July and August is the sales time….magical time….and I’ve been hoarding too….here is my loot . I haven’t shopped much from the sales though…not that I didn’t want to…but couldn’t find interesting stuff…but that never stops me  from shopping 🙂

This post is for you dearies ( holly and sally) for being so selfless in sharing your stuff and style…..every day…

Necklaces : Stone pendant from Fab, thread and wood necklaces : from Anokhi

A closer look… love them

Silver and metal from fab and Anokhi . Holls/Salls- same pinch  🙂

tunics from Fab, Anokhi. I bought a few more from Fab and soma – they are now in the wash 🙂

On sale : Reebok t-shirt ( manish arora fish fry collection )….it has very interesting sleeves….am not sure if I can ever afford Manish arora (amazing eclectic style) …till then these will give me company…. isn’t the guitar strumming Disney way too cute 🙂

A while ago I had mentioned about this shop …this stuff is from the same lady…she had an anniversary sale and I went bonkers…

Cotton and Khadi material…waiting to take shape…

Silk saree in rich hues (dont you love the colors) from the same shop….I love sarees….How often I drape them is another story…but I simply love them and hoard them….I can never let a pretty saree pass by….its an investment…..come on agree 🙂

I love attending craft fairs and exhibitions….one can get such different stuff there….this bag is from one such random exhibition…a young designer from bombay had this awesome stall….

And I fell in love with the yellow…how can one not….its so cheery and the bonus , its a reversible bag….you can use it both ways…whats not to love…

love the bag and the pretty pretty danglers which serve a purpose too ( to open and close the bag)

Oh, I love them

the other way….love the color and  print ….this print reminds me of a collection from FabIndia….

Look at the excellent finish and detailing  of  cloth and leather

While at her store I also picked up this awesome wallet and an extra dangler… If the dangler was long enough I would have worn it as a necklace…suggested this to her…..

On sale : gold  toned footwear from charles and keith

On sale : Earrings from Accessorize – I have way too many turquoise and aqua colored outfits….these add to the color collection

Wooden and Woven bangles , terracota bracelet from random crafts fairs….

So as you can see there isn’t much stuff from sales….but thats not a deterrent to shop 🙂

What’s in my bag

Standard

Quite a good while ago Holls and salls shared whats in their bags and passed on this meme to me…. I planned to go for it every weekend but of course did nothing about it… can’t carry the guilt anymore…. I love them both….. 🙂 so here is mine.

I carry huge bags with hardly any stuff inside…. I love big bags….and to fill them in I always carry a largish stole…..saves me from the crazy AC ( whats with the extremes, Bah) everywhere around…..and also fattens my bag  nicely…

This is my current bag…..sorry about the  tasteless pictures……I am very bad at photography….I dont have to state that, ain’t I?

Ignore the cushion….here comes my current love….which is actually a suprise gift from the husband… ( he has finally learnt  my taste)….Isn’t it very retro ? Its made of cotton and is lined with Jute , I simply adore the scooter print…..its quirkyly ethnic and screams  ME.

( click on the image for better visibility)

As I said there is nothing much in my bag 😦

  • Blue and Brown wallet from Holii- Paisley or Ambi’s are my first love, I am crazy about this motif.
  • Few Essentials : comb, lipgloss from Nivea, Lipstick from maybelline, scrunchie.
  • Hand cream from Fab India : this is a must…for my super dry hands
  • A pen …
  • And of course the stole…..its made of very soft wool and cotton blend….yes, I need it ….I work in almost  freezing temperatures.

Yes, I love blue…..it shows 🙂

I usually carry a book to read and a  bottle of water too….and a pair of sunglasses ( which are now lying in the car) ….see didn’t I warn you, its quite boring….

So who is doing this tag next ? Let me a have a peek folks !

Blogging has enriched me… …and offered rewarding friendships……and my style soul sisters Holly and Sally are up high in this category… many a times it feels surreal…..I identify so much with their style and sensibilities and the astounding ease with which we get  along  ( without an existence of physical medium) …..all this in the virtual world mellows me…..

Congratulations dearies  on the 250th post…..to  commemorate this milestone they are hosting an awesome giveaway…. the queens of accessories are going to giveaway some glamorous stuff…..Each piece is Love…… Lets try our Luck Ladies  🙂

How I’d wear them

Weekend Events

Standard

Time and again I have professed my love and loyalty towards anything handmade….. I have a very deep emotional connect with anything that represents Indian arts and crafts.

In my neighborhood nests a quaint little shop which sells handloom stuff and is run by a very competent lady who is a part of Dastkar Andhra. She is passionate about handloom and what really inspires me about her is the extremely observable innate passion in promoting handlooms. She works with weavers face-to-face and stocks fabrics and stuff from the lesser known weavers of the state, giving them the right exposure and opportunities to sell….

In an endeavor to nourish it further, she will be conducting an exhibition and sale of Hand-woven Handloom cotton this weekend. If possible, please drop by and encourage the artisans and weavers…..

                                             Goutami weaves presents

Summer sale and Exhibition of Hand woven cotton, silk cotton, Khadi, Kalmakari and fabrics from lesser known weavers of the state along with Kalahasti kalamkari patches and Eco friendly bags from Pondicherry.

                                                            At

Sri Kowtha Kamakoti Kalyana Nilayam , Kowtha Swarajya Vihar, # 10, Padmarao Nagar, Swarajya press compound, Secunderabad – 500015

Timings: 11 AM to 8 PM (From Friday 5th to Sunday 7th March 2010)

There will also be a live demonstration of the very famous Kalamkari way of painting by an artist. (Kalamkari refers to the Indian craft of painting Natural Dyes on cotton or silk fabric using a bamboo pen).

Note: This isn’t an advertising post. I really liked the stuff I bought from her, hence wanted you guys to know about it too.

Chaddi bhejo, Pub Bharo

Standard

Am extremely proud to be a member of  Consortium of pubgoing, loose and forward women.

pinkc

Hop over and do your bit. Join the pink Chaddi Campaign. This year’s valentine’s day seems exciting already.

Happy valentine’s day!

What is the Pink Chaddi Campaign?

The Pink Chaddi Campaign kicked off on 5 February 2009 to oppose the Sri Ram Sena. The campaign is growing exponentially (4,500 at this point in the life of our Consortium of Pub-going, Loose and Forward Women) and that is not surprising. Most women in this country have enough curbs on their lives without a whole new franchise cashing in with their bully-boy tactics. Of course, a lot of men have joined the group as well.

Here is we want to do with the Pink Chaddi Campaign. Join in. Be imaginative, have fun and fight back!

What can you do?

Step 1: It does not matter that many of us have not thought about Valentine’s Day since we were 13. If ever. This year let us send the Sri Ram Sena some love. Let us send them some PINK CHADDIS.
Look in your closet or buy them cheap. Dirt-cheap. Make sure they are PINK. Send them off to the Sena.

The address to send the package is: Pramod Muthalik, Chief Bully Boy, Sri Rama Sena, #11, Behind New Bus Stand, Gokhul Road, Near Lakshmi Park, Hubli – Karnataka.

If you don’t want to mail it yourself, you can drop it off at the Chaddi Collection Points. We will be collecting across the country through this week and sending the packages on February 12. More information about Chaddi Collectors in your city soon on our blog: http://thepinkchaddicampaign.blogspot.com/

Step 2: Send the Pink Chaddi Campaign a photograph of the package.
Tell us how many chaddis you are sending out and inspire other women in other cities. You can either mail the information to freelancehabba (at) gmail (dot) com or you can mail it at our facebook address. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=49641698651&ref=mf

Step 3: On Valentine’s Day we do a Pub Bharo action. Go to a pub wherever you are. From Kabul to Chennai to Guwahati to Singapore to LA women have signed up. It does not matter if you are actually not a pub-goer or not even much of a drinker. Let us raise a toast (it can be juice) to Indian women. Take a photo or video. We will put it together (more on how later) and send this as well to the Sri Ram Sena.

What happens after Valentine’s Day?
After Valentine’s Day we should get some of our elected leaders to agree that beating up women is ummm… AGAINST INDIAN CULTURE.
For right now, ask not what Dr VS Acharya, Home Minister of Karnataka can do for you. Ask what you can do for him. Here is his blog. Send him some love.

PS. Our good friend L says we should not colour-discriminate. So if you really, really can’t send pink chaddis, send those in other colours.
PPS. Both Women and Men are invited to send in their chaddi’s/ pictures of chaddi’s.

Current mood: Cheerful and happy

Standard

Over a girly talk today at work one of my colleagues complimented that she thinks I have good dress sense and likes my clothes very much…..after yesterday’s miserable clothes catastrophe this seemed tailor-made….put me over the moon….yeah, I am wacky that way 🙂

Current mood : Cheerless,annoyed and upset….

Standard

No no , its got nothing to do with life as such…
Since morning I am eagerly waiting for the day to end…at least the work day to end…..and then get home and cry/sulk in isolation.
I’d been having around 9 sets of unstitched  Salwar suits since a long time…well, I’m quite lazy when it comes to getting them stitched…I do not bother taking them to the tailor till a good number of them have packed up. Then I take them all one fine day and get them done.Thats how it has been since years……since I always had a decent enough
tailor to bank upon….
A couple of weeks ago, it was time to make that trip to the tailor and it was
appropriate timing too since soon I would be joining a new organization in a week. So I was all too excited about having new clothes to wear to the new workplace…a very girly thingie……
But when I finally went to the tailor his shop was shut down…I felt terribly upset since I had been associated with him since the past 10+ years and had no idea of any other tailor…
The neighboring shop guy all concerned told me that the landlord of the shop ran into some legal problems and had to get shut the shop, hence my tailor had to vacate it immediately….
All I could do is to call up the tailor and meet up somewhere another day and get my stuff done…but then I was not motivated enough to do that…hence, I took one of the most doltish decisions…
Went to a new tailor who was quite expensive and had quite a reputation of being good and all that…and like a real moron gave away all my 9 precious, adored, lovingly picked suits to
him…today when I recall my actions I feel like kicking my own butt….
and the outcome is 9 terribly ill-stitched, ill fitting, shapeless dresses…I tried and tried them again and got alterations done…but the end product still sucks big time…If you are a woman  reading this you can so relate to this…
Today I wore one of them, hated it, but in the morning with S around at home it didn’t seem that bad.
As soon as I entered office my colleagues(women, its always them. Do men notice such things?  gotta ask S) remarked on it…one of them also pronounced that I look much much older in this  dress and its more like grandmother’s type…at that moment I wished the ground beneath me
opened and gobbled me up….I wanted to flee and get home and erase that day….well, no hopes…
So all I am doing is staying put at my desk…discomposed..not venturing out much from my space …waiting
for the day to end…It feels as if I am dressed in a rug sack….ok, that doesn’t mean I go to work everyday wearing glamorous filmi type clothes…but I always wear well fitting and smart cotton clothes which make me self-confident….you got the drift…
And am deeply mourning the brutal murders…of my new clothes…and started working emotionally on the possible contingencies. I think I will call up my old tailor and request him to set them straight as much as possible….that means shelling out more moolah…considering
the obnoxious amount I already spent to get them stitched in the first place it makes me cringe….
But Do I have an option???? I have myself to blame for this fiasco…
What to do you all do in such situations? Want to hear out…maybe it will make me feel a bit better…
