Inventory…

Standard

July and August is the sales time….magical time….and I’ve been hoarding too….here is my loot . I haven’t shopped much from the sales though…not that I didn’t want to…but couldn’t find interesting stuff…but that never stops me  from shopping 🙂

This post is for you dearies ( holly and sally) for being so selfless in sharing your stuff and style…..every day…

Necklaces : Stone pendant from Fab, thread and wood necklaces : from Anokhi

A closer look… love them

Silver and metal from fab and Anokhi . Holls/Salls- same pinch  🙂

tunics from Fab, Anokhi. I bought a few more from Fab and soma – they are now in the wash 🙂

On sale : Reebok t-shirt ( manish arora fish fry collection )….it has very interesting sleeves….am not sure if I can ever afford Manish arora (amazing eclectic style) …till then these will give me company…. isn’t the guitar strumming Disney way too cute 🙂

A while ago I had mentioned about this shop …this stuff is from the same lady…she had an anniversary sale and I went bonkers…

Cotton and Khadi material…waiting to take shape…

Silk saree in rich hues (dont you love the colors) from the same shop….I love sarees….How often I drape them is another story…but I simply love them and hoard them….I can never let a pretty saree pass by….its an investment…..come on agree 🙂

I love attending craft fairs and exhibitions….one can get such different stuff there….this bag is from one such random exhibition…a young designer from bombay had this awesome stall….

And I fell in love with the yellow…how can one not….its so cheery and the bonus , its a reversible bag….you can use it both ways…whats not to love…

love the bag and the pretty pretty danglers which serve a purpose too ( to open and close the bag)

Oh, I love them

the other way….love the color and  print ….this print reminds me of a collection from FabIndia….

Look at the excellent finish and detailing  of  cloth and leather

While at her store I also picked up this awesome wallet and an extra dangler… If the dangler was long enough I would have worn it as a necklace…suggested this to her…..

On sale : gold  toned footwear from charles and keith

On sale : Earrings from Accessorize – I have way too many turquoise and aqua colored outfits….these add to the color collection

Wooden and Woven bangles , terracota bracelet from random crafts fairs….

So as you can see there isn’t much stuff from sales….but thats not a deterrent to shop 🙂

Weekend Events

Standard

Time and again I have professed my love and loyalty towards anything handmade….. I have a very deep emotional connect with anything that represents Indian arts and crafts.

In my neighborhood nests a quaint little shop which sells handloom stuff and is run by a very competent lady who is a part of Dastkar Andhra. She is passionate about handloom and what really inspires me about her is the extremely observable innate passion in promoting handlooms. She works with weavers face-to-face and stocks fabrics and stuff from the lesser known weavers of the state, giving them the right exposure and opportunities to sell….

In an endeavor to nourish it further, she will be conducting an exhibition and sale of Hand-woven Handloom cotton this weekend. If possible, please drop by and encourage the artisans and weavers…..

                                             Goutami weaves presents

Summer sale and Exhibition of Hand woven cotton, silk cotton, Khadi, Kalmakari and fabrics from lesser known weavers of the state along with Kalahasti kalamkari patches and Eco friendly bags from Pondicherry.

                                                            At

Sri Kowtha Kamakoti Kalyana Nilayam , Kowtha Swarajya Vihar, # 10, Padmarao Nagar, Swarajya press compound, Secunderabad – 500015

Timings: 11 AM to 8 PM (From Friday 5th to Sunday 7th March 2010)

There will also be a live demonstration of the very famous Kalamkari way of painting by an artist. (Kalamkari refers to the Indian craft of painting Natural Dyes on cotton or silk fabric using a bamboo pen).

Note: This isn’t an advertising post. I really liked the stuff I bought from her, hence wanted you guys to know about it too.

Tagged!

Standard

Been tagged by Madhu to list out my five addictions. Going by my fondness for tags I immediately jumped off the couch to write this. Lately I had been caught by a severe bout of writing hebetudinous , hence the incessant absence from blogging land. And this tag just suspended that.

Although its quite a task to stop at just five. Though I am not a person of obsessive habits, I have my fair share of manias. And after much deliberation here come my top five,

1. Books : To call them an addiction is an understatement. I am a book lunatic. They are like drugs to me. I read crazy. I simply love it. And am very deeply attached to them. I also have this silly fear since childhood, that if I don’t read or write anything that day, I will be left behind in the world. 🙂 Absurd , ain’t it?

2. Water : I gulp down gallons of it. I just need to have a bottle of it around me all the time else am distressed. I sip it like every 5 mins, Yeah all through the year and in all weather conditions.

3. Block-Printing : I professed my love for it time and again in this space. Am vehemently addicted to it. In fact anything ethnic and handicrafty is my cup of tea. I have a large corner in my heart for arts, crafts, weaves, antiques, traditional stuff. They are my Nirvana.

4. Kohl : All forms of it, be it Kajal/powder/eyeliner, am game. I love its smudged look. Gives a lot of character to the eyes. It has monumental significance in my life 🙂

5. FruitYoghurt : Be it home-made or store bought I have an appetite for it anytime of the day. I indulge in it perpetually and feasting on it transcends and soothes me. Its therapeutic.

Ok, folks now share yours and let me have a peek. Its open to everybody who finds this little rattle brained space of mine interesting.

Up for Consideration

Standard

This blog is an outlet….a space where I rant, vent, share, discuss, celebrate, all of that and much more. Its been a hugely satisfying and fulfilling journey so far and am sure it will continue to be the same in the future too….It gifted me with friendships that blossomed and strengthened overtime, which I hold very dear.

Today I want to ask all my dear pals their ideas on something, which will help clear my prolonged muddleheadedness. I had been contemplating about opening up a new blog which will we be my salute to the artisans and craftsmen of India (My take on contemporary arts, crafts, textiles and all things ethnic). I share a deep love for anything hand loom and handmade…..and there is such vast expertise of it in India that it never ceases to amaze me…..Its a long cherished dream and advice from all you lovely people will be a great value addition ….

What do you want the blog to consist of (In short, What do you want to see there ) ?

There are a few primitive ideas which seem inspiring to me …..For eg : showcase of various handicrafts stuff like fabrics, jewelery etc; happening weavers/co-op fairs and exhibitions and their reviews, where to get such stuff etc, gift ideas and a lot more.

I want to do so much that it really works me up,throw in your views buddies 🙂
